WALCE MEMBERSHIP
Wisconsin Association of Land Conservation Employees (WALCE) is a statewide, professional organization of Land Conservation Department staff that share similar duties and responsibilities in the field of natural resource management. As LCD employees, we are charged with providing technical, financial and education services to local landowners and units of government for the purposes of controlling erosion and nonpoint source pollution.
Because of our similar goals and responsibilities, WALCE was created to represent our collective interests for improving our professional development and for representing our needs at the state and federal levels. WALCE's specific objectives, through its adopted by-laws, are identified as:
It cannot be stressed enough how invaluable WALCE has become in this state. Not only are we educating others on the importance of the work we do, but we have also become respected leaders in providing input and ideas for policies that give us the resources and programs we need to be successful. Most of all, we have helped create a professional training program second to none.
WALCE is committed to the continued implementation of its Strategic Plan, including steps to:
-
advance locally led conservation programs, initiatives and flexibility in ways that reflect its members,
-
build stronger partnerships between local staff and other agencies, and
- improve WALCE member services and communication.
All these efforts, however, take the time, energy and financial support of many individuals. We are asking that you help support these efforts, and essentially your own career, by becoming a member. No other organization has its sole interest in ensuring that we get the professional training and resources needed to be effective, first-class conservationists. WALCE's goal is to do what makes sense and what is best for Wisconsin as a whole. As a member, you are always welcomed and encouraged to be involved and offer your thoughts on issues. For more information, please contact your Area Representative.
